“That’s a big deal dude!” I feel like as I embark on this journey towards the 2016 Reedy International Off-Road Race of Champions that it is important to share a bit of the story behind how the race originally came about. It goes without saying that this race is a “big deal” whatever that really means, and while sharing my journey is important I feel like we can’t move forward until I explain some of the history. The Reedy Race at OCRC specifically caught my attention in early 2015. I was mesmerized by the amazing racing and the atmosphere of the event on LiveRC.com, patriotically swept up in Kyle McBride’s epic open class run, right then and there I declared to[…]

The first round of the Outlaw RC 2015/16  Indoor Off-Road Winter Carpet Series was held at the Cloverdale Fairgrounds on Saturday October 17th and #TheToyCarCreative made the journey down Highway 99 trip to compete in the 2wd Short Course division. The Pro-line Pro-2 SCT proved to be very competitive in both heats and qualified second for the A-main, just 8/10ths of a second off the TQ. Drivers have been asked to run slick or smooth tread tires for this years series which threw a real wrench in the gears for setup; many of us assuming that last years settings just weren’t going to cut the mustard. Teams were however allowed to use tire sauce and much to everyones surprise the overall[…]

Portugese racer Bruno Coelho has taken out the 2015 1/10 4wd Off-Road Worlds at the Yatabe Arena in Japan. Normally known for his touring car prowess, Coelho carried the TQ into the mains and drove away to win the first two finals and wrap up the championship in sizzling fashion. His XRAY buggy appeared to have a real advantage in the rhythm sections of the challenging astro-turf track and although his challengers showed glimpses of fight, when it counted no one ever really looked like beating Coelho. Naoto Matsukura ended up second on the podium after a win in A3 (Coelho did not race in A3) and David Ronnefalk deservedly rounded out the top three after consistent runs in each[…]

Axial today released a new RTR trophy truck and #TheToyCarCreative wants one badly! Based on the 1/10 Yeti platform, fitted with a whole bunch of scale goodies and officially licensed by SCORE® International Off-Road, this truck could be a ground breaker for the hobby. As vehicles become more capable in true off-road situations and the hobby progresses further away from the traditional race day format and goes more mobile, the appeal of Baja style racing is becoming very obvious. The new Axial Yeti™ SCORE® Trophy Truck® RTR (kit# 90050) is the truck to do it with and it’s on our Christmas lists for sure! Watch the video and then keep scrolling for the gallery! #TheToyCarCreative was firmly glued to the LiveRC.com coverage of the 2015 IFMAR 1/10 Off-road Worlds from Yatabe Arena in Japan last night and we were stoked to see young American Spencer Rivkin take the 2wd title with his Team Associated B5M buggy. This is the first World’s Rivkin has ever competed in, making the win an absolutely remarkable achievement. Rivkin held his nerve over three exciting mains, finishing with a second and two wins to secure the title. Kyosho driver Jared Tebo had the TQ but finished second overall after some costly mistakes. Ryan Cavalieri rounded out the podium with his Team Associated B5M. Check out Spencer Rivkin wrapping up the 2015 title in A3 here, video courtesy of 2wdmod.com
